Oceanographic

Wave, tide, current and CTD instruments for ocean observation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are wave height and direction measured?

WaveSense-A uses an acceleration-based surface tracker; WaveSense-R uses a non-contact radar from a fixed platform or buoy. Both compute Hs, Tp and direction.

What is a CTD sensor?

CTD measures conductivity, temperature and depth — the three fundamental oceanographic parameters used to derive salinity and water-mass structure.

Can these sensors be moored long-term?

Yes — OceanSense platforms support multi-year deep-water moorings; CTDSense and DepthSense are rated for sustained subsurface deployment.
