AeroSense-UWS

Ultrasonic wind speed and direction sensor with no moving parts, fast response, ±2.5° direction accuracy, and a long service life.

AeroSense-UWS measures wind speed and direction from variations in ultrasonic propagation time through the airflow. With no moving parts to wear out, the sensor offers fast response, high accuracy, and long service life — well-suited to meteorology, environmental monitoring, and wind-turbine control.

Overview

AeroSense-UWS derives wind speed and direction from the variation of ultrasonic propagation time across the airflow. The non-contact, inertia-free measurement gives the sensor fast response, high accuracy, no mechanical wear, and a long working life — useful where moving-parts anemometers would degrade over time.

Typical applications include meteorological observation, environmental monitoring, and wind-turbine control. The sensor outputs NMEA-0183 over RS485 by default and supports a number of optional digital and analog protocols for direct integration with telemetry and SCADA systems.
